On Wednesday night, Fendi hosted a party at its Fifth Avenue store to celebrate the launch of Sharon Coplan Hurowitz's new book on conceptual artist John Baldessari: A Catalogue Raisonne of Prints and Multiples, 1971-2007. Baldessari is known for his black-and- white portraits obstructed by blocks of color, and the book is the first comprehensive account of his work. At the party, pianist ELEW, who in May played for President Barack Obama and first lady Micheluxurylive Obama, performed orchestral covers of alternative rock songs like "Mr. Brightside" by the Killers, "Paint It Black" by the Rolling Stones, and "Clocks" by Coldplay while lunging about like a New Zealand soccer player during the Haka War Dance.
